\u00a0But in the end, even after seeing Dan&#8217;s Act 3 video, they were skeptical. \u00a0At this point the lesson turned into more of a direct instruction experience.<\/p>\n<p>*I* talked them through using the circumference to find the radius of the base.<\/p>\n<p>*I* proceeded to find the area of the base of the first cylinder using our newly found &#8220;r&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>*I* found the volume of the first cylinder using our newly found &#8220;B&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Then, *they*\u00a0referenced my math-teacher-y structured work and found the volume of the second cylinder.<\/p>\n<p>The energy was there. \u00a0The engagement was there. \u00a0The curiosity was there.<\/p>\n<p>The correct math was not there.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps doing more of these tasks will help. \u00a0So, I&#8217;m doing a different task tomorrow. \u00a0We&#8217;ll see how it goes.<\/p>\n<p>Click the link below to see\u00a0some pages from the Nearpod report from one of the classes today. \u00a0I&#8217;m so glad I was able to capture these responses. \u00a0No students can opt out of the 3-Act process when they&#8217;re held accountable in this way&#8230; not that they would want to opt out!
